INTRODUCING SUZIE, MY FAMILY PET.
During the course of my working week I always find that I will inevitably be counselling someone that has experienced a trauma. There are many ways of working with trauma, and many ways that trauma is experienced by each individual.
This is where Suzie the therapy dog comes in! Suzie is a gentle soul, calm and affectionate, and always ready with a warm welcome.
Many people who come for therapy benefit from the added comfort of Suzie’s presence during their session.
After the warmth of her greeting, a few inquisitive sniffs, and some patting and stroking she generally drifts off to sleep, her steady breathing nearby is somehow reassuring.
Some people are not great fans of dogs and really wouldn’t enjoy having Suzie around, so Suzie only helps out when her presence is welcome.
